Get Involved

To prevent the spread of COVID-19, we will no longer be accepting non-medical related drop-off donations until further notice. However, we are still accepting in-kind donations of our immediate needs such as hand sanitizer, latex gloves face masks, and Clorox wipes.

Are you part of a faith-based organization? One of our biggest resources in the harsh Michigan winters is our Rotating Shelter! Rotating Shelter is a great way to open your faith-based home to those experiencing homelessness in Washtenaw County. 

Help our neighbors get a fresh start with the things they need in a new apartment! Keep in mind that most clients only have some clothing and few personal belongings. Pledge Donations

Our multi-year gift program is designed to safeguard our current programs and create a financial bridge to our future.

Your participation in the Bridge to the Future program supports us as we work to end homelessness one person at a time.

We do accept a variety of in-kind donations year-round including:

  • NEW hats and gloves

  • NEW unisex sweatpants and sweatshirts

  • Bus tokens and passes

  • Travel-size toiletries

  • NEW towels and washcloths

  • NEW undergarments

  • NEW white t-shirts

We Do Not Accept:

  • Used clothing, bedding, furniture, appliances, towels

  • Perishable and non-perishable food items

  • Children's items 

One of the best ways to get involved with the SAWC is to attend events like Almost Home or Hunger & Homelessness Awareness Week. If your corporation or school would like to host an event on behalf of the shelter, third-party events are always a good option.

Our volunteers are at the heart of everything we do and are essential to the SAWC's mission. Volunteers play a crucial role in our operations and participate in many aspects of our programs. There are many positions available to fit your busy schedule!
