There were City of Ann Arbor shelters long before the Shelter Association of Washtenaw County (SAWC) took charge, providing crucial services and building the Delonis Center in 2003 as their base of operations. Ellen Schulmeister was at the helm of the SAWC for most of that time.
The new director of the SAWC, Dan Kelly, holds Schulmeister and the accomplishments of her tenure in high regard. Nevertheless, he brings a fresh perspective and has designs to make the shelter a more welcoming place...
